How The Rating Works
Coffee and service quality are rated separately.
Every Beany user can check in at a coffee shop and rate their experience. We first calculate the mean of all of a user's ratings for a shop. We do that for all users who have rated this shop. We then calculate the mean of these means across all Beany users for this shop. That's it. Transparent, easy to understand, and (we hope) fair to everyone involved.
