A visit to MAME in Zurich is essential. MAME is not just one of the OGs of the Swiss specialty coffee scene. They're arguably one of the most well-known names in specialty coffee worldwide. Founded by Mathieu and Emi in 2016, both of whom have been dominant forces on the World Barista Championship stage for years, their expertise is legendary. We visited MAME Josef, their very first shop, and it goes without saying that you can taste that level of excellence and passion in each cup. What was so positively surprising was the great atmosphere. MAME Josef masterfully balances being both a global hub for specialty coffee nerds *and* a genuinely warm, welcoming neighborhood café. That's a truly special thing to achieve. A world-class experience that still feels like home.
