About us
Built by coffee people, for coffee people.
Beany started in Berlin during the pandemic, when a takeaway flat white was the highlight of the week. We set out to discover as many of the city's specialty cafés as we could. That turned into a Google Maps list. The list became a website. The website became the app you're looking at.
What we were looking for never changed: one reliable source for specialty coffee. A map where every pin is checked, every score comes from someone who actually tasted, and no café can buy its way in.
That's why Beany is independent and community-funded. Cafés and roasters never pay us: no paid pins, no boosted scores, no ads. That's what keeps the map honest.
